Fisher Communications partners with ZOOPPA to Host a Video Competition
Fisher Communications, Inc. announced an innovative partnership with Seattle-based ZOOPPA.COM to host "KOMO Video Block Party," a user-generated video competition for Seattle area neighborhoods.
This program is designed to promote community involvement and engage local residents and businesses in a discussion about the neighborhoods they live and operate in.
Users are asked to create a short video showing what they love about their community, submit it to ZOOPPA.COM, and Zooppa will then post the video on one of KOMO's 43 new neighborhood Web sites.
Last week, KOMO unveiled its new hyperlocal network in Seattle, which is designed to provide these local communities with the best source of information about the news, events, entertainment and personalities relevant to their day-to-day lives.
Colleen B. Brown, Fisher's president and CEO, added, "The digital revolution is transforming how consumers receive and use their information, as well as how broadcasting companies deliver their content. By expanding our broadcast delivery capabilities and developing a robust broadband portfolio, Fisher is using the advancements in technology to serve the changing needs of our audience and advertisers."
"Zooppa is very active in Seattle's creative community and this project will not only strengthen our new neighborhood network, but also enable us to highlight some of the talented filmmakers in our area," stated Troy McGuire, VP of Fisher Interactive Network.
As Zooppa CEO Wil Merritt explained, "Rather than developing a message that may or may not appeal to a broad segment of consumers, Zooppa's platform enables people to create a wide range of messages micro-targeted to their specific interests and communities."
The competition runs from August 24 to October 18 and participants can win up to $1,000 in cash prizes.
